Standardisation
STANDARDISATION
Standardisation of equipment and components is one of the most important areas a site needs to consider. Many suppliers use generic numbering systems for the same style items. These items are usually replaceable as a complete unit but can have different components that can affect performance and reliability. These differences can include (but are not limited to) material and sealing.
Replacement components for these items are often not interchangable, resulting in difficulty at site, avoidable downtime and stock duplications. Purchasing and correct stock levels also become more complex as the variations grow.
