EDDYTHERM® from Prüftechnik

Fast, easy, reliable - the logical approach to shrink fitting

CBC is the sole authorised Australian distributor of Prüftechnik Eddytherm® Eddy Current Induction Heaters. Eddytherm® units are available for hire or sale and are backed by a locally based service and repair agency.

Eddytherm® Eddy Current Induction Heaters are used for the safe and reliable shrink-fitting of ball and roller bearings, couplings and connectors, gears and shaft spacers.

Shrink-fit technology uses the expansion and contraction properties of metal to enable smaller shafts to carry the same torsion moment as larger keyed ones.

The fitting of bearings using eddy current induction heating is the recommended method for fitting bearings with interference fits by all major bearing manufacturers worldwide.

Prüftechnik Eddytherm® units can be used for fitting bearings from 1kg to 4,000kg in mass with bores ranging from 15mm to 600mm.

The advantages of proper induction heating using Eddytherm® are:-

• Proper fitting - workpieces are heated evenly, with no danger of overheating. Bearing prelubrication remains in place, and the bearing remains free of contamination and physical damage.
• Environmentally friendly and energy efficient - induction heating requires minimal energy to fit bearings and produces no vapour, smoke or used oil.
• Portability - workpieces may be mounted on site very quickly with little set-up required.
• Safety - only workpieces become hot: no accidents due to hot oil, hot plates or open flames.
• Demagnetisation - workpieces are automatically demagnetized at the end of every heating cycle with no residual magnetism to collect debris.
• The life of roller bearings is potentially extended due to the reduced risk of fitting errors.

FAG Hydraulic Nuts HYDNUT

CBC is an authorised Australian distributor of FAG hydraulic nuts HYDNUT. FAG hydraulic nuts HYDNUT are available for hire or sale and are backed by a locally based service and repair agency.

Hydraulic nuts HYDNUT can be used to press bearings and components with a tapered bore onto their tapered seat. They are primarily used when the drive-up forces required cannot be applied using other devices, eg shaft lock nuts or pressure screws.

They are mainly used for:

• Mounting of rolling bearings with a tapered bore. The bearings can be seated directly on a tapered shaft, on an adapter sleeve or an extraction sleeve. If the bearing is located using an extraction sleeve, the hydraulic nut can also be used for dismounting.
• Mounting of couplings, gears, ship propellers etc.

Available in metric thread sizes from 50 to 380mm.

FAG Displacement Gauge For Hydraulic Nuts
If the radial internal clearance cannot be measured with a feeler gauge due to poor accessibility, the axial displacement of the bearing can be measured on the tapered seat. This can be achieved by means of an FAG displacement gauge attached to the front face of the hydraulic nut. The user can determine which of the measuring needles supplied should be used from the comprehensive user manual included with each gauge.

The bearing is placed in its starting position. A hand pump set with a manometer must be used. The starting oil pressure required is dependent on the bearing size and the number of sliding surfaces. The dial gauge is set to zero and the bearing is moved by pumping until the specified drive-up distance is achieved.

Twin Stage Oil Injection Hand Pump Set
Twin stage hand pump set is used for the mounting and dismounting of rolling bearings. Twin stage pumps have a high flow rate in the low pressure range (up to 50 bar) and then switch automatically to the high pressure stage, providing a high work rate.

Gates Belt Drive Maintenance Kits
Gates Australia have released four industrial belt drive maintenance kits which contain all the tools required to install and maintain belt drives effectively and efficiently. A built tough, go anywhere waterproof PVC case ensures the contents of the kit will always be completely protected from workplace hazards and be in the right spot when needed.

Gates Sonic Tension Meter
The Sonic Tension Meter is easily operated by one person for fast, accurate readings on all types of synchronous belt drive systems and V-belt drives. The standard cord sensor will reach inside cramped compartments where conventional measurements would be impossible.

An optional flexible sensor can be bent and repositioned for convenient, one hand operation. An optional inductive sensor can measure belt tensions in high noise or windy environments.

Gates Laser AT-1
A simple, easy to use, one person operated alignment device. Accurately gauges angular and parallel misalignment. Magnetically mounted to the pulleys, the unit allows the pulleys to be adjusted whilst still measuring the alignment. It’s faster, simpler and more accurate than traditional straight edge or string lines. Measures angular and parallel misalignment separately by the simple movement of the targets. Fast, simple and economical.

Gates EZ-Align
The EZ-Align laser alignment tool is a more advanced unit than the Gates Laser AT-1. While the AT-1 checks both planes of misalignment individually, the EZ-Align checks both planes simultaneously, so adjustment can be made to the drive to align it correctly. A one person job without the hassle of awkward straight edges or string lines, while being faster and more reliable than other alignment tools. Comes in its own protected carry case.

Gates Tensioning Tools
Gates have two tensioning tools for use in the servicing of belt drives. The single barrel (15kg) and the double barrel (30kg) tester can be used to accurately measure the tension of individual or joined belts at installation or during maintenance. Using the tension testers ensures that correct tension is maintained and is repeatable. This will yield a longer and more predictable service life, enabling scheduled replacement rather than breakdown replacement.
